Win a hamper of goodies

Terms and Conditions Apply - an overall prize winner will receive a hamper of goodies and each category winner will receive a canvas print of their entry.

There is no doubt that we are lucky enough to live in a part of the Country with an abundance of countryside and moorland right on our doorstep - but so much of what makes West Devon special is the people and the communities.

As we build our vision for the future, we would like to showcase you, the residents, communities and businesses that make West Devon what it is.

We have picked some amazing images so far to put in the plan, but we would now like you to show us what you see when you look at West Devon.

The photos that are entered for the competition could then become a wonderful archive of images that we can use to show West Devon at its very best.

The Categories

The Natural Environment

One of the subjects that will be really important to everything that West Devon does in the coming years is Adapting and Mitigating Climate Change and Biodiversity Loss.

In this category we are looking for photos which capture this topic.

Think about the wildlife, the biodiversity and the way people of West Devon are changing their behaviours to make a real difference.

Have you seen something that makes you proud of the way people in the West Devon are embracing this challenge?

Health and Wellbeing

West Devon are committed to every resident being able to live a healthy and active life.

In this category show us what Health and Wellbeing means to you.  Is it your sports club, your favourite leisure activities or the bricks and mortar where you live that provides you with safety, security and warmth?

Our health and wellbeing is impacted by so many factors, we would like to see how you would visualise this category.

Perhaps a selfie taken on a morning run, or keys to a home where you can live independently?

Our Future and Our Past

This category is all about our built environment, our heritage, the architecture and the buildings that define where we live.

As a local authority, a lot of our work involves conserving what already exists while enabling a built environment that provides us with a sustainable future.

What do you see when you look at the buildings in West Devon?  Can you capture in pictures what this category means to you?

Think about the new homes being built and the old ones being preserved.

What we have to offer

A category to showcase to businesses, visitors and investors from outside of our region, this is our economy, who we are and how we work.

West Devon has many small- and medium-sized businesses, many who have battled through the pandemic and have adapted to a changing situation in order to stay afloat.

Now let's showcase you, see you, your premises, your staff and your customers.

This category is a celebration of the West Devon economy.

Communities

During the pandemic, we saw first-hand that strong communities are really important to the health and wellbeing of the Borough.

Can you take a photo that captures what community means to you?  Show us the people and the relationships in your local area that are empowered to make a difference for the benefit of everyone.

Your Council

So much of the work the Council does in your community goes unnoticed.  During the pandemic, there was an outpouring of gratitude for those officers who put themselves on the front line everyday.

Can you take photos of something that the Council has enabled in your community?  Could it be providing affordable homes for all?  Keeping your streets clean?

Or could it be where the Council has provided opportunities for everyone to be included and feel part of our communities, regardless of age, race, gender, disability or personal circumstances?
